Technologist works collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for providing quality diagnostic imaging. Consistently demonstrates knowledge and practice of radiation safety. Effectively interacts with patient and health team members, while maintaining standards of professional imaging. Consistently demonstrates competency in delivering care across the life span of Neonate Newborn - 0-28 days, pediatric - 29 days - 10 years, adolescent - 11 years - 18 years, adult - 19 years - 55 years, and geriatrics 56 years. Performs office duties, assists in file room, transports patients as necessary, and assists supervisor with other duties as assigned. Must possess current Radiological Technologist license in Wyoming
Supports the philosophy and mission of Riverton Memorial Hospital and the Imaging Department by facilitating the cooperation of hospital staff in a multidisciplinary approach to problem solving. Verifies appropriate orders. Prepares the patient. Prepares the imaging equipment and contrast media's. Completes diagnostic imaging. Provides and processes information appropriate to the age of the patient served Follows the guidelines described in the Code of Conduct Ethics and Compliance Program. Performs other duties as directed/required. Communicates and collaborates with peers, as well as with other disciplines and physicians. Observes and respects the confidentiality of information in regards to the patient, the physicians, and allow employees, as stated in the Employees Handbook. Serves as a resource to staff, community and throughout hospital Seeks information necessary to improve and re-enforce performance as needed on a daily basis. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as prescribed in the imaging department's policies and procedures. Is aware of the resources available to patients, significant others and physicians for ethical concerns and makes the appropriate referrals when necessary. Demonstrates an understanding of the PATIENT RIGHTS policies and procedures and provides care accordingly. Prioritizes work effectively to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during the assigned shift. Follows the guidelines described in the Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct. Performs Patient Care System (Meditech functions as relates to his/her specific job responsibilities. Identifies priorities for patient care needs and maintains or adapts priorities, as needed, throughout the imaging process. Thoroughly explains the procedure to the patient and answers any questions. Physically prepares the patient for the exam in an appropriate and timely manner. Assures that all materials needed for the imaging exam are in place. Properly mixes any required contrast media. Sets imaging equipment for appropriate exposure settings. Selects proper cassette and marks appropriately. Accurately identifies film with patient information. Shields patient adequately for radiation protection. Places imaging equipment at proper distance and angle from patient's body. Adjusts collimation to direct concentration of specific area being examined. Completes diagnostic imaging. Assures quality of imaging prior to discharge of patient. Performs Quality Control Completes imaging exams in an effective and efficient manner. Coordinates patient flow of room assigned in a timely manner. Assures the diagnostic quality of the imaging films. Communicates and collaborates with peers in the Imaging Department as well as other disciplines in order to enhance effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of organizational goals as evidenced by frequent verbal and written communication. Consults with other technicians when appropriate Answers telephone, receiving and relaying messages as needed with complete discretion for patient confidentiality.
