The Section for International Law and International Relations is one of Europe's leading institutions in international law. To support its team, the Section looks to recruit lawyers with a keen interest in public international law (Prof. Waibel) for the duration of the absence of an employee. The position is a temporary replacement until December 6, 2023 and could be extended.
The position is vacant for the period of absence of a member of staff.
Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
Contribute to research, teaching and administration: - assist with research projects and publications - ongoing doctoral thesis in international law or demonstrated interest in writing such a thesis - teaching and as defined by the collective agreement, including the repetition course in international law - supervision of students - organise workshops and conferences - willingness to supervise the Jessup or the investment Moot Court team of the faculty- carry out administrative tasks.
Profile:
First law degree with excellent results - interest in international law - experience in editing and drafting legal texts - excellent command of written and spoken English - good command of written and spoken German, or willingness to learn German - ability to work in a team - ability to work independently; good organizational skills.
Desirable qualifications are - additional experience (eg a second degree in law or another related field, work experience in law firms or international organizations) - some experience in legal research and writing - teaching experience - knowledge of university processes and structures.
