Major/Essential Functions
Provide patient care ! and diagnosis in all areas of Pediatrics to newborns and adolescents; examine patients to determine the presence of disease and establish preventive health practices; determine nature and extent of disease or injury; prescribe and administer medications and immunizations; precept medical students and residents in the clinic, newborn nursery and general pediatric ward; supervise physician assistants in the clinical setting; participate in research and scholarly activities within the department of pediatrics.

Qualifications
Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional servic! e appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching! and research or artistic and creative activity.
Preferred Qualifications
M.D. degree or foreign medical equivalent degree, plus completion of three (3) year Pediatrics Residency. Must be Board Eligible in Pediatrics. Must be eligible to obtain Texas State Medical License.
