SHIFT: Days - (8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) - 35 hrs./wk. - 40 wks./yr.
SALARY: *Salary listed is union step compensation. Outside applicants start at Step 1
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
To perform general clerical, telephone communication, typing, word processing, computer functions and other related duties. Must be able to handle multiple demands simultaneously. Assignments and instructions are administered by the principal.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
- Typing of correspondence, requisitions, reports and entering information into a data base.
- Telephone communication as required by supervisor.
- Maintenance of files and records as required.
- Communication with staff, students, the public and other departments.
- Distribution of all supplies and materials within the building.
- Responsible for the daily building student attendance program and maintaining the State Attendance Program.
- Responds to the daily activities of students, staff, parents, etc., within the building.
- Other related duties as required by the department and/or principal.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The ability to make accurate tabulations and computations; the ability to readily understand and carry out directions, both oral and written; reasonable speed and accuracy in typing and keyboarding; must be able to meet or exceed minimum standards set in regards to applicant testing; the ability to communicate orally with staff and the public; should be familiar with office equipment, including, but not limited to: computer, calculator, telephone, photocopier and familiarity with applicable software applications preferred, but not required; the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form; the ability to handle confidential material and data with utmost discretion; the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; the ability to develop an effective working relationship with staff, students and the community and the ability to perform duties with an awareness of school department requirements and policies, especially as they relate to elementary education.
EDUCATION:
Such as may be gained from graduation from a senior high school or equivalent (GED), including or supplemented by keyboarding and computer software application. Business or technical school graduate preferred. One year office experience helpful.
